Tom Aspinall’s official reign begins in a matter of days. Perhaps I shouldn’t say “official,” but it always feels odd to say a reign begins outside the cage, with Aspinall having been promoted to undisputed Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight titleholder after Jon Jones retired. Thus, Aspinall’s main event with Ciryl Gane at UFC 321 this Saturday in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, serves as the first official appearance for the Englishman in which he does not carry the interim champion label.
