Earlier this week, news broke that champion Robert Whittaker was out of his fight at UFC 248 against Jared Cannonier due to undisclosed reasons. And while we still don’t know exactly why Whittaker pulled out from the bout, the former middleweight champion released a statement on his withdrawal Thursday.
Taking to Instagram, the usually cheerful Whittaker posted a somewhat somber message, saying that a lot has happened in the last year and that he needs to take a step back to spend time with his family right now.
“I’m sorry to all my friends, supporters and family for not being able to fight in March.
