Monte Cox Pleads Guilty to Federal Tax Charge; MMA Manager Faces 3 Years in Prison

Veteran MMA manager and promoter Monte Cox is facing time in federal prison after this week pleading guilty to filing a false tax return, the Quad-City Times reports.

Cox admitted to under-reporting his income over a four-year period during a Monday hearing at U.S. District Court in Davenport, Iowa.

According to the report, prosecutors said the Bettendorf-based businessman received a “significant” number of checks from his MMA-related ventures between 2007 and 2010, the amount of which “significantly exceeded” Cox’s reported income for those years. In all, Cox under-reported his earnings by $1.1 million, amounting to $370,000 in tax loss for the government.
