MMA veteran Alexis Vila arrested on second-degree murder charge

Alexis Vila, a longtime MMA fighter and former Olympic medalist in wrestling, has been charged with murder.

Vila, who fought for Bellator, World Series of Fighting and others during his career, was arrested April 17 in Miami on a second-degree murder charge involving a conspiracy and weapon, MMA Fighting confirmed via Miami-Dade County police records Monday. The warrant for his arrest was issued March 29.

Vila, 47, is currently being held without bond at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami. He has a pending hold for immigration.
