But, all those things only serve to add depth and nuance to the stories that are told visually in the moment of competition. Two athletes in the heat of battle, testing skill against skill – along with raw physicality.
It’s because of this visual nature that photography will always be an integral part of sports media. An ability to highlight specific moments in time, to bring the stories in those moments to life and let the mind fixate on them – when video would otherwise pass them quickly by.
