The co-main event of Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Conor McGregor was supposed to be a 130-pound title defense for 22-year-old phenom Gervonta Davis, but he failed to make weight, so the IBF championship was only on the line for unheralded Costa Rican Francisco Fonseca, who was the largest underdog on the card.
Unsurprisingly, Davis took the early initiative and was throwing several brutal body shots. The southpaw used his body work to land some shots upstairs. Fonseca also threw solid punches to Davis’ midsection and was tagging the former champ off of the counter.
