Magomed Ankalaev has broken his silence after coming up short in a rematch against Alex Pereira.
After besting Pereira via unanimous decision in the UFC 313 main event this past March, Ankalaev was vanquished in short order at UFC 320, falling to “Poatan” via technical knockout just 80 seconds into Round 1 of their title bout at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday night.
It certainly wasn’t an expected result for Anklaev, whose 14-bout unbeaten streak coming in to UFC 320 dated back to September 2018. The 33-year-old Dagestani released a statement on social media on Sunday reacting to the defeat.
