Kazuyuki Miyata stops Erson Yamamoto with hammerlock in Rizin 14 retirement bout

Japanese legend Kazuyuki Miyata finished off his career in spectacular fashion, stopping Erson Yamamoto with an elaborate hammerlock submission in the second round of his retirement bout at Rizin 14 in Tokyo, Japan on Monday.

Miyata caught the submission from his back and reversed position as Yamamoto looked to evade the shoulder crank. After one final attempt to bridge Miyata off the arm lock, Yamamoto succumbed to the submission.

Speaking after the win, Miyata announced his intentions to focus on his coaching career.

“My job is no longer to be a champion; it is to build champions,” he said, according to the broadcast.
