There apparently is some history between top lightweight contenders Justin Gaethje and Donald Cerrone. In a recent interview with MMA Junkie, “The Highlight” revealed he was knocked out by “Cowboy” during a training session years back.
“He knocked me out … he dropped me in sparring,” he said. “I don’t even know if I had a pro fight at the time. I was a kid then and a man now and I’m excited to get in there and give him back that one, yeah.”
Gaethje is currently on a two-fight streak with first-round knockout wins against James Vick and Edson Barboza, respectively.
