Joanna Jedrzejczyk underwent successful surgery

Following the bout, the champ revealed that she had potentially broken her thumb and would require surgery.

Last week, it was reported that Jedrzejczyk had injured her thumb, but no surgery was needed. This unfortunately wasn’t the case.

The Polish fighter posted on her official Instagram page that she went to see her doctor and surgery was necessary. One day later and the surgery was successful.

According to the 27-year-old, if everything goes to plan then she will be able to return before the end of 2015. Jedrzejczyk won the 115-pound gold at UFC 185 against Carla Esparza and defended it in her last outing against Penne.
