Irish residents don't want 'brutal and violent' UFC event -- or Conor McGregor -- inside Croke Park

It appears New York isn't the only locale resisting the rise of mixed martial arts (MMA).

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White is hoping to bring a major combat sports event to 80,000-plus seat Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland, headlined by local hero and current undisputed featherweight champion Conor McGregor.

And despite his "Notorious" ability to "shut down" his native homeland, not everyone is welcoming him with open arms. That includes chair of the vocal residents' association, Pat Gates, who insisted that he, along with local residents, could stand in the way.
