The UFC has stripped Henry Cejudo of the flyweight title and plans to promote a fight between top contenders Joseph Benavidez and Deiveson Figueiredo in a bout for the vacant belt at UFC Norfolk.
MMA Fighting confirmed the news with multiple people with knowledge of the news after an initial report by BJPenn.com. Cejudo will retain the bantamweight belt he won in June by stopping Marlon Moraes at UFC 238.
The news comes one week after Cejudo said he would walk away from the sport if he didn’t receive the paycheck he sought for his next contract.
