The UFC incorrectly announced a lightweight bout between Gilbert Burns and Lando Vannata for UFC on FOX 29 in Glendale, Ariz., on April 14, but “Durinho” is still hoping to fight on that card.
The Brazilian lightweight was originally pulled from a UFC on FOX 28 with Olivier Aubin-Mercier on Feb. 24 after being considered to be too heavy to continue cutting weight, and now waits for a new opponent now that Vannata is no longer available.
Burns, who tells MMA Fighting he actually signed the bout agreement to face Vannata in April, says he’s still expected to compete in Arizona, and volunteers to face anyone inside the Octagon.
