Former UFC champion Luke Rockhold explains decision to remain at middleweight

In September 2017, former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold first broached the idea of moving up to light heavyweight. These plans, however, are put on hold, as he is now booked for a rematch against Chris Weidman for UFC 230.

For Rockhold, being able to fight at one of the biggest arenas in sports, as well the matchup that was presented to him, played a factor in his decision.

“Chris Weidman at Madison Square Garden. Simple enough,” Rockhold told Submission Radio in a recent interview. “It’s a big fight, in a big arena, a place I’ve always wanted to go, and a perfect match-up.
