Former MMA fighter with suspected links to Al-Qaida ordered to wear tracking bracelet by Montreal judge

Former MMA fighter Merouane Ghalmi has been ordered to wear a tracking bracelet by a Montreal courthouse to avoid prosecution.

Merouane Ghalmi, a 22-year-old man from Montreal, has signed a peace bond that would subject him to an electronic tracking bracelet and other preventative measures.

It appears that the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) considered Ghalmi a "risk to public security." Ghalmi, a native of Syria who lives in Montreal, has been referred to as a "former MMA fighter" by Canadian newspapers.

While Ghalmi does not face any criminal charges, the RCMP produced a summons on February 23rd that required his appearance in court.
