Former MMA fighter Sharice Davids elected to US Congress

Another MMA fighter will be taking office. According to reports, Sharice Davids has won the race for Kansas’ 3rd Congressional District on Tuesday night.

Davis, a 38-year-old Democrat, unseats incumbent GOP Rep. Kevin Yoder, who served four terms in Congress. The lawyer and former MMA fighter has made history and will be the first-ever Native American woman elected to Congress.

She started out as an amateur MMA fighter in 2006, before turning professional in 2013, and going 1-1 in her career. She had trained at JacksonWink in the past, and tried out for Season 20 of The Ultimate Fighter.
