Rising lightweight talent Fares Ziam won’t be competing at UFC Paris as originally anticipated.

The 28-year-old Frenchman announced via social media that he has withdrawn from Saturday’s event due to the death of his grandmother. Ziam was scheduled to face Kaue Fernandes on the main card.

“Following the sudden death of my grandmother, and the organization of her funeral in France and abroad, I regret having to cancel my participation in UFC Paris on Sept. 6,” Ziam wrote on Instagram (via Google Translate).
