Ex-MMA Fighter Sharice Davids Makes History As First Native American Woman in Congress

Former MMA fighter Sharice Davids is projected to win Kansas's 3rd District for Democrats and unseat four-term Republican Rep. Kevin Yoder, reports The Hill.

Davids, who is member of the Ho-Chunk Nation, will be one of the first two Native American women elected to Congress. The attorney and former White House Fellow is also the first openly LGBT person to represent the state of Kansas, reports The Kansas City Star.

She joins more than 100 other women projected to win seats in the House of Representatives.
