Kamaru Usman continues to dream big in the twilight of his career.
Usman (21-4) defended his Ultimate Fighting Championship welterweight title five times before losing it to Leon Edwards in an upset knockout in 2022. “The Nigerian Nightmare” was dominated by Edwards in their rematch the following year. Usman then suffered a decision loss to Khamzat Chimaev in a one-off middleweight outing. The former champ finally returned to the win column with a unanimous decision over Joaquin Buckly in June.
Usman wants a title shot next against the winner of the upcoming welterweight title tilt between Jack Della Maddalena and Islam Makhachev.
