Despite being arrested for allegedly embezzling $35 million from the federal government, Ziyavudin Magomedov was still able to watch Khabib Nurmagomedov win the UFC lightweight title.
According to tass.ru, the disgraced oligarch was able to lodge a complaint and get upgraded to a jail cell with a television set so he could watch UFC 223, which took place April 7 in Brooklyn, New York. Magomedov, who is being held at the Lefortovo detention centre, was moved from a solitary confinement cell to a regular one.
Ivan Melnikov, the executive secretary of the Moscow Public Monitoring Commission for the observance of human rights, oversaw the transfer and revealed that Magomedov was interested in watching Nurmagomedov compete that weekend.
