Diego Brandao Accepts 9-Month Suspension from USADA for Positive Marijuana Test

Former UFC featherweight Diego Brandao has accepted a nine-month suspension for failing a drug test at UFC 195, according to a statement from the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).

Brandao tested positive for Carboxy-THC, a metabolite of marijuana and/or hashish, in a sample taken during an in-competition drug test at the Jan. 2 event. The suspension is retroactive to the date of the event, but Brandao will be eligible for a one-month reduction in length “pending the satisfactory completion of an approved anti-doping educational program.” Brandao is also subject to additional penalties from the Nevada Athletic Commission since UFC 195 took place in Las Vegas.
