Derrick Lewis (29-12 MMA, 20-10 UFC) reminded everyone why he’s the UFC’s all-time knockout king, ending Tallison Teixeira’s (8-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) unbeaten run in emphatic fashion. In a fight many thought would showcase a new generation of heavyweight talent, Lewis flipped the script and delivered vintage violence. Teixeira, the younger and more well rounded prospect, entered the bout undefeated but his perfect record didn’t survive the first round at UFC Fight Night in Nashville, TN.
In the opening moments of the fight, Tallison Teixeira landed a punch that visibly bothered Lewis’ right eye. The veteran briefly covered up, blinking and showing signs of discomfort.
