Promotion officials announced the new featherweight pairing on Wednesday. Bellator 288 takes place on Nov. 18 at Wintrust Arena in Chicago and is headlined by a light heavyweight title clash between Vadim Nemkov and Corey Anderson. In the co-main event, Patricky Freire will defend his lightweight crown against Usman Nurmagomedov. The main card airs on Showtime at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
A two-time featherweight title challenger, Weichel is 3-2 in his last five promotional appearances dating back to 2019.
