Terence Crawford, one of the most accomplished fighters of his era and a three-division undisputed champion, has officially announced his retirement from boxing. The 38-year-old made the decision public Tuesday in an emotional video posted to his YouTube channel.
“I’m stepping away from competition, not because I’m done fighting, but because I’ve won a different type of battle,” Crawford said, per Yahoo Sports. “The one where you walk away on your own terms.”
The announcement comes months after Crawford defeated Canelo Álvarez on Sept. 13 to become the undisputed super middleweight champion a victory that added yet another historic milestone to his already legendary résumé.
