Another boxer has sadly succumbed to injuries sustained in the ring.
Junior middleweight Patrick Day suffered a 10th-round knockout loss to Charles Conwell on the DAZN streamed undercard of last Saturday’s Oleksandr Usyk vs. Chazz Witherspoon undercard in Chicago, IL. Day, who was put in a medically-induced coma following emergency surgery later that evening, died in hospital on Wednesday.
Day’s promoter, Lou DiBella, issued a statement on the passing of the New York native.
Patrick Day passed away today, October 16, 2019, succumbing to the traumatic brain injury he suffered in his fight this past Saturday, October 12, at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago, IL.
