A Dagestani blogger was detained earlier this week for inciting violence and extremism in Dagestan, including the same concerts and theatrical performances that UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov spoke out against.
Ahmed Israpilov, who manages the ‘Imamat Dagestan’ page on Instagram, was charged with inciting extremist activity (Article 280 in the Russian Federation Criminal Code). The 18-year-old confessed to the crime.
“Israpilov coordinated the actions of the Instagram groups by threatening both the organizers and the citizens who attended the events,” the regional FSB Directorate explained. “People wearing t-shirts with the logo of his page met teenagers leaving the theatre (AniDag) and showered them with threats.
