Bethe Correia’s appendix surgery a success, promises ‘amazing performance’ in retirement fight

UFC bantamweight Bethe Correia went under the knife Tuesday for an emergency surgery to remove her appendix, and her manager Wallid Ismail told MMA Fighting the procedure was deemed a success but the doctors.

As MMA Fighting previously reported, the surgery forced “Pitbull” Correia to withdraw from a UFC Fight Island 7 bout with Wu Yanan on Jan. 16. There’s no timetable set at the moment for Correia’s return to training.

The UFC veteran released a statement on her social media on Tuesday night, stating “my last dance and my retirement fight will have to be postponed for a little while” but vowing to “put on amazing performance” in her final octagon appearance.
