Alistair Overeem wants one more run at heavyweight title in ‘last phase’ of career

After a scary knockdown courtesy of Walt Harris in their main event clash at UFC on ESPN 8 on Saturday, “The Demolition Man” powered back with a highlight-reel finish. After landing a thunderous head kick and a punch that put Harris down, a barrage of ground-and-pound from back mount ultimately led to the end of the fight.

With a 3-1 record over his past four outings, Overeem is still one of the top heavyweights in the sport but he also understands he can’t go on fighting forever.

While he knows it’s not a short road back to the UFC heavyweight title, Overeem believes he has enough in the tank to go for one last run at the belt before calling it a career.
