The 2016 Major League Soccer season will finish on Oct. 23, 2016. 12 teams will advance to the playoffs, six from each conference.
Though the format has not yet been finalized, the playoffs will most likely start with two single-game matchups on Wednesday, Oct. 26, and two more on Thursday, Oct. 27.
The Eastern and Western Conference semifinals will be played over two weekends: Oct. 29-30 and Nov. 5-6. The Conference finals will also be played over two weekends. These two rounds are aggregate goal series.
MLS Cup will be played at the home of the participating team with the best regular-season record.
