Only one more match separated the United States Men’s National Team from a place in the 2019 Gold Cup final. Their opponents Jamaica were looking to shock the USMNT once more after defeating them a few weeks prior in a 1-0 friendly result.
The USMNT had yet to lose a match in the tournament and they weren’t about to let that happen on Wednesday night. Weston McKennie made sure the U.S. got off on the right foot scoring less than 10 minutes into the semifinal. From there, the USMNT would take a 2-0 lead in the second half after a lightning delay had taken the match into a later finishing time than expected.
