Most professional clubs now have a third kit. It allows them to have other options for opponents with color combinations similar to them, as well as the more lucrative extra kit sales. The USMNT looks to be following suit in 2017, as a potential third kit from Nike has been spotted.
With the Gold Cup this summer it would make sense to have additional options from a marketing perspective and boost sales from fans who already have the traditional design.
