As the international break draws to a close with the Gold Cup and Copa America now well and truly underway, the U.S. Open Cup has entered the forefront of the soccer focus. This week, it was the Round of 16 with a mix of MLS and USL teams fighting it out for a place in the quarter-finals.
There were the usual shocks, with the fairytales continuing, as well as emphatic wins for New York City FC, Atlanta United and the Portland Timbers, all of which will be looking at the competition as a potential trophy come the end of the season.
