The first playoff game Toronto F.C. ever hosted turned into a special night, as the home side defeated the Philadelphia Union 3-1 to advance to the conference semifinals.
How it Happened
A giveaway in the 15th minute allowed Toronto F.C. to score the opening goal and go ahead 1-0. Jozy Altidore collected the ball and knocked it in front of the net and Sebastian Giovinco was there to finish it off.
The home side continued to press on in search of a second throughout the first half but were unable to find the finishing touch. Andre Blake had a stellar save in the 21st minute to deny Drew Moor and Giovinco saw his free kick hit the side netting.
