The long, grueling 2016 regular season is now over for all 20 MLS clubs. These two Western Conference foes, the Seattle Sounders and Sporting Kansas City, are among the 12 teams to qualify for a playoff spot. Now their season is on the line as they face off in the knockout round.
It was a roller coaster season for the Sounders. At the beginning of the season, the Sounders struggled to win games on the road and at home. As a result, Sigi Schmid was sacked during the season. Seattle’s front office being active in the transfer window helped bring a winning culture back to town.
