The Portland Timbers took to the trip to CenturyLink Field on Sunday afternoon for the first Major League Soccer match in the Cascadia derby of the 2019 season. The Seattle Sounders, looking to chase down the LA-based teams at the top of the West, will be disappointed with the result and performance.
Brian Fernandez scored twice for the Timbers, cancelling out Raul Ruidiaz’s lone strike just after half-time. Portland now move to within touching distance of the playoff positions, while the Sounders failed to leapfrog the LA Galaxy back into second.
