Following a strong finish to the 2017 MLS Season, and to the surprise of no one, Real Salt Lake has exercised the purchase option on 20-year-old, Venezuelan winger, Jefferson Savarino. Savarino, who was on loan from Venezuelan side Zulia FC, will remain a young Designated Player for the 2018 season.
The exciting prospect came to RSL in May, in the middle of their woeful start to the season. Savarino quickly adjusted to the MLS style of play, immediately gelled with the RSL attack, and was a constant threat to opposing defense over the last half of the season.
