New York City FC manager Patrick Vieira says the unique challenges presented by soccer in North America makes coaching in Major League Soccer more difficult than in Europe.
MLS is run as a single entity, which allows the league to have input on player transfers, limit free agency to certain conditions, and institute a salary cap. There is also no danger of relegation.
Former Arsenal star Vieira, who was appointed NYCFC manager in November, said learning about the league's structure has been "fascinating" ahead of his first game in charge on Sunday.
"I just think that coaching in the MLS is of course harder than in Europe," Vieira told MLSSoccer.
