Omar Gonzalez Sold to Pachuca

LA Galaxy defender Omar Gonzalez has been sold to Liga MX side Pachuca, as the club could not afford his Designated Player contract.

The 27 year-old central defender had made 205 total appearances in Major League Soccer with the Galaxy, and was apart of the 2011, 2013, and 2014 MLS Cup winning seasons. As with MLS policy, terms of the transfer were not disclosed.

Gonzalez signed a Designated Player contract with the club in 2013, but with recent additions of Steven Gerrard and Giovanni dos Santos, Los Angeles were forced to use allocation money on Gonzalez’s deal to make room for the other Designated Player signings.
