Ronny Deila is optimistic that New York City FC can and will add players before the start of the MLS season. The NYCFC head coach says this, while acknowledging the difficulty of making transfers given the circumstances around this offseason.
NYCFC finished a disappointing fifth in the Eastern Conference last season and seventh in the league table, continuing a playoff streak that goes back to 2016 but falling a bit short of lofty expectations. This offseason has been slow for NYCFC and while the roster is relatively strong, there are still some holes that need to be filled if the club is going to compete for the Supporters Shield and MLS Cup.
