This 2017 campaign will be Patrick Vieira’s second year in command of NYCFC and if there’s anything we’ve learned from him, it’s his admiration for international talent. After bringing in some fresh faces to preseason, his defense is still in question even after acquiring the Peruvian native, Alexander Callens.
The acquisition of Callens was confirmed yesterday by ESPN FC as the 24-year old will be joining NYCFC from La Liga’s Real Sociedad Reserves squad on a free transfer. Vieira believes the central defender will mesh well with his current line that holds Frédéric Brillant, Maxime Chanot and Ronald Matarrita.
