While much of the U.S. attention this weekend has been on the return of the NFL or the USMNT’s difficult task of facing Brazil, there were still some vital MLS games played, none more so than when D.C. United travelled to Yankee Stadium to face fellow Eastern Conference playoff rivals, New York City FC.
Teams in disparaging runs of form but both striving for the same thing, points to haul their way into the playoffs and give them a run at the MLS Cup, this was always going to be a riveting affair with plenty to play for and much uncertainty.
