After a World Cup bye week, the New England Revolution returned to action on Saturday, hosting last-place DC United who were buoyed by the announcement of Wayne Rooney’ arrival when the summer transfer window opens on July 10.
It was a rusty and raucous affair, with plenty of goals and controversy at either end. But, after all was said and done, it was a Cristian Penilla penalty that secured the three points for the Revs with a thrilling 3-2 scoreline.
