Two teams in MLS are left competing for the Supporters’ Shield, the regular season’s biggest trophy: Atlanta United, who hold a four point lead, and the New York Red Bulls. No other team is within 10 points.
Both won this week. Atlanta coasted at home against RSL and the Red Bulls coasted with slightly less ease against Toronto FC. They play next Sunday in one of the most important games of the regular season; if Atlanta win, they all but clinch the Shield, but if New York pull it off, we could be looking at a wild finish.
