Kaka will not be able to make his season debut for Orlando City on Friday, though new signing Antonio Nocerino should be available to face the Chicago Fire.
Orlando City drew 2-2 with Real Salt Lake in their opener on Sunday without their captain, who suffered the injury in training last week.
And Orlando City coach Adrian Heath said on Tuesday that he hoped Kaka would be able to play on March 18 at New York City FC.
"Kaka is working in the gym this morning," Heath told reporters on Tuesday, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
