The Houston Dynamo concluded their home season on Sunday afternoon with a 1-0 loss to the L.A. Galaxy. Birthday boy Alan Gordon’s goal in the 72nd minute of play was the difference maker. Houston was attempting to thwart the Galaxy’s bid to host a knock out round game of the Audi MLS Cup playoffs. The Dynamo had previously put a dent in Seattle’s playoff hopes earlier in the week with a 0-0 road draw but Sunday was not meant to be.
More than 21,000 packed the house at BBVA Compass Stadium braving the 90 degree plus temperatures in mid-October, a testament to the way the team under interim head coach Wade Barrett has managed the team since the departure of Owen Coyle.
