The Argentine midfielder for the Portland Timbers has been granted Major League Soccer (MLS)’s Player Of The Week for week one by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR).
This award comes after the Timber’s 5-1 thumping over new expansion side Minnesota United. Valeri scored two goals and notched an assist. This helped match the team’s highest single-game scoring total in MLS and largest margin of victory at Providence Park. Valeri leads the league in combined goals and assists with three after the first week of play. Diego finished last season with a combined 21 goals and assists (14 goals, 7 assists).
