Per Steven Goff of the Washington Post, Charlie Horton has been signed by DC United to challenge for a starting role. With Bill Hamid out for several months DC has brought in multiple trailists to compete for the starting role but ended up signing none. The most high profile candidate was former Toronto FC goalkeeper Chris Konopka.

The young Horton will battle with Andrew Dykstra for the starting role in DC and can possibly be the long term replacement for Hamid should he leave for a European club during the summer transfer window.
