Prior to Week 8, the Portland Timbers had not won a game of football. That, for any team, is obviously not a good thing. For a team that made the MLS Cup final last season and did not really lose too much in the offseason, it is an utterly disastrous record. So travelling to the Columbus Crew is far from ideal. Little confidence and a difficult team to travel to, the Timbers needed some inspiration.
Thankfully, they got it. Three goals, a win, and some hope for the remainder of the season. Suddenly, Portland have life, just as the Columbus Crew drop more points after an excellent start to the year.
