It was a tight, tantalising affair when the New York Red Bulls took a trip to Columbus, Ohio, to face the fairytale of MLS, the Columbus Crew. Few expected the Crew to challenge the might of the Supporters’ Shield winners.
And yet, thanks to a fantastically worked Gyasi Zardes goal, the Crew squeezed out a 1-0 victory that they will hope to defend in the second leg at New York on Sunday.
