Atlanta United won their road match in Vancouver on Wednesday night 1-0 thanks to a Josef Martinez penalty kick in the 29th minute. It was the club’s first win against the Vancouver Whitecaps and it was Martinez’s fifth goal of the season. The Venezuelan international now leads the team in goals and assists with seven combined.
The Five Stripes also notched their sixth clean sheet of the season and their fifth clean sheet in a row. With another three points gained, they now sit third in the Eastern Conference and have moved up to seventh in the Supporters’ Shield standings.
